Dental Implants - The closest thing to real teeth

Dental implants replace missing teeth in a safe way

If you are missing teeth and are conscious about your smile, dental implants are one of the best choices of treatment. Implants are strong and long-lasting and can be matched to your existing teeth.

At Penrose Dental we offer dental implant treatment to all suitable patients at our Central Auckland clinic. To discuss whether implants would be a good option for you, book an appointment today.

Natural looking

Dental implants mimic the look of natural teeth closely, and can be colour-matched to your surrounding teeth for a more natural looking smile.

Natural feeling

As well as looking like natural teeth, dental implants feel like natural teeth in your mouth and help you avoid the weird feeling of loose or missing teeth. Because the implants are anchored into bone, they feel very stable and will not come loose.

Easier to clean

Unlike a dental bridge which uses the teeth either side as connections, an implant is a standalone tooth. This makes cleaning easier both around the implant and around the surrounding teeth.

Process for getting implants

Getting dental implants is a relatively lengthy procedure. At your initial appointment we'll check your medical history and take some X-rays or carry out a scan to check that everything is okay. This initial assessment ensures that your bone structure is strong enough to hold the implant and that the procedure is not going to affect any nerves or your sinuses.

At the next stage the implant itself will be placed into your jawbone. The implant is a titanium root which is surgically placed in the jaw. Usually this can be done under local anaesthetic.

After the initial implementation your jaw and gums will need time to heal and for the titanium to fuse properly with the bone. This can take a few months. While this is happening a removable plastic partial denture can be worn. Once the implant and the jaw have fused a permanent crown can be added.
